Its mission is clear: to reduce poverty and social inequality, while promoting citizenship and social inclusion of beneficiary families.

But how exactly does this program work and who is eligible for it?

Eligibility and Participation Criteria

To be eligible for Bolsa Família, the family must be registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government and meet specific criteria.

The first requirement is to have a per capita family income of up to R$218.00. In addition, the family must include pregnant women or children and adolescents up to 17 years of age in its composition.

Conditions of the Bolsa Família

However, participation in the program is not limited to meeting these financial criteria.

Beneficiary families must also follow some essential conditions, such as keeping children and adolescents enrolled in school with a minimum frequency of 85%, vaccinating children according to the national vaccination calendar and taking pregnant women and children under 7 years of age to prenatal consultations and monitoring of growth and development.

Benefit Value

The values of Bolsa Família benefits vary according to the number of people in the family and compliance with the conditions.

In 2023, the minimum benefit amount is R$60.00, while the maximum is R$217.00. This financial aid has a significant impact on the lives of beneficiary families, helping to meet basic needs.

Additional Social Benefits

In addition to the financial benefit, Bolsa Família offers access to a series of other social services and programs.

This includes the Continuous Benefit Payment (BPC) for the elderly and people with disabilities, the social electricity tariff, the Vale-Gás, the Housing Aid and the National Popular Housing Program (PNH).

These complementary programs contribute to improving the living conditions of families in vulnerable situations.

Impact of Bolsa Família on Society

The success of Bolsa Família is recognized internationally for its effectiveness in reducing poverty and social inequality.

Since its creation, the program has benefited millions of Brazilian families and played a crucial role in lifting many people out of extreme poverty.

It is an initiative that demonstrates how well-planned public policies can be powerful instruments in the fight against inequality and in promoting social inclusion.

Bolsa Família is an inspiring example of how a program can make a difference in the lives of so many Brazilians.
