Correios will provide the option to collect products from lockers in RJ and SP
Soon, Correios will make a new delivery option available via lockers for consumers in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
This week, the organization released an accreditation notice with the aim of hiring companies to supply these lockers to operate in the two capital cities.
The installation phase of lockers throughout the country is expected to begin in 2021.
With this delivery method, the consumer purchase a product online and choose to pick up at the locker of your choice.
Correios lockers will allow packages to be received during extended opening hours, compared to conventional delivery, and in an easily accessible location.
The first Correios locker in Brazil, opened in October, is already in operation in the Federal District, serving around 6,000 families in the Paranoá/DF region. Another terminal is scheduled to open in November of this year in Rio de Janeiro.
“The new smart lockers will be installed in strategic locations with a large flow of people, such as subway and train stations and shopping malls.
The terminals bring greater convenience and flexibility to the population, especially for those who cannot receive their orders during the day, or who live in an area with delivery restrictions, for example”, informed Correios.
All companies that meet the requirements set out in the notice will be accredited. The lockers of the chosen suppliers will be affixed with the Correios brand and activated according to the organization's needs and connected to the state-owned company's automated system.
Companies interested in becoming accredited need to access the Electronic Information System – SEI of the Post Office and forward the application and documentation contained in the notice.
The agreement will remain in force for a period of 24 months from the date of signing, with the possibility of extension for up to 60 months. More information is available at Post Office website.
